Where good people grow great futures

At Dairy Australia, we believe in growing great futures - that includes yours. Here, you'll contribute to something bigger: the livelihood of farmers, the sustainability of communities in dairy regions and the future of one of Australia's most vital industries.

Working alongside people whose knowledge and passion run deep, you’ll love being part of a team where flexibility matters and support comes in abundance. What’s more, we’re as invested in your growth as we are in the industry's future.

Whether you’re new to the industry or bring years of experience to the table, if you’re after work that’s practical, challenging and deeply connected to real outcomes, you’ll find it at Dairy Australia.  To learn more, watch the video below.

Your opportunity

At GippsDairy, we work alongside farmers and industry partners to build a profitable, resilient and sustainable dairy sector in the Gippsland region. An opportunity has become available for an experienced Communications Coordinator to join our team in a part time (4 days per week), fixed term (12 months) capacity and play a key role in connecting farmers with the information, insights and stories that matter most.

This role exists to ensure farmers have accessible, timely and relevant information that increases knowledge, builds capability and supports confident business decision-making. You’ll drive awareness of industry priorities, celebrate farmer achievements and support practice change through strong, audience-focused communications.

Working closely with GippsDairy colleagues, Dairy Australia’s Research, Development and Extension (RD&E) teams, and the national Marketing and Communications function, this role delivers integrated communications that align regional priorities with national direction.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, deliver and review GippsDairy’s annual Communications Strategy and Communications Plan
  • Manage and optimise all communications channels, including eNews, social media, print and website
  • Design and deliver targeted, farmer‑focused communications that support industry priorities and practice change
  • Translate technical and industry information into clear, relevant and practical messages for farmers
  • Create high‑quality content including case studies, articles, eDMs, videos, podcasts and web content
  • Source and share authentic farmer stories that celebrate achievements and build industry capability
  • Build strong relationships with farmers, industry partners, service providers and Dairy Australia teams

About you

You’re a proactive communications professional who enjoys working closely with stakeholders and translating complex ideas into practical, farmer-focused content.

Essential experience and skills

  • Diploma or degree in communications, marketing, journalism or public relations and or minimum three years’ experience in a similar communications role
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to adapt tone across channels and audiences
  • Experience managing content management systems, customer records and social media platforms
  • Ability to develop processes, monitor effectiveness and report on outcomes
  • Stakeholder engagement experience in complex or corporate environments
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work within systems
  • High level digital capability, including analytics and online tools

Desirable

  • Understanding of, or empathy with, the dairy or broader agricultural sector
  • Knowledge of dairy industry networks and regional operating environments
